EarBeater - Ear Training app good for
Handy tool but there minor bugs while playing intervals in custom mode.
Im a music teacher and a musician. I recommend this for my students, and I use it myself from time to time to keep my ear tuned in.
its a great app to train solfege skills, as it builds up slowly and makes practicing possible anywhere :)
After trying a number of different ear training apps, I took a chance to buy this one. I am very glad I did. This one is well set up, easy to use, teaches you the difference between the various intervals, scales, chords, is fully customizable, and gives good instructive feedback to the user when mistakes are made. I highly recommend.
Thank you for this wonderful ear training app. Ive explored many of the options and this is my favourite so far. It would be great to see chord progressions in a future update as well as the ability to limit the range of the notes played; some of the extended chords turn to total mush when played at the lower limits of the currently used note range, making them nearly impossible to discern.
If youre looking to improve your ear this is the app for you. The custom built exercises in the full version you can create are highly worth it.
Some bad moments
"Create Exercise" doesnt work. It closes the app and does nothing
I have just begun to experiment with this app, but so far I am loving it! It is easy to figure out and use. The sound quality on my iPad is good. I love that I can design a test that includes exactly the intervals/scales I am working on.
It would be 5-star if there was an in-app help page; and the ability to have ascending and descending intervals/scales in the same exercise. (That may be a function that is there in the user-defined tests that I havent figured out yet.)
There is also a bug that causes the screen to freeze when defining a test. Seems to reset itself if you close and reopen the app a couple times. But, hey, its new and I am sure they are working on bug fixes already!
I will update as new versions come out.
UPDATE: I have been in contact with the developers, and they are terrific! The crash bug is due to problems with iOS 7 on the iPad. They are working on a fix. I LOVE this app!!
This app is great. Im a music student and I thought I had pretty good ears. Ear Beater showed my some short comings I had as well as strongly reinforcing my previous skills. I highly recommend this app.
This is a fantastic app - unfortunately it was rendered useless to me because of a bug, but as soon as I reported it they got to fixing it and the update was released today, I just checked it and were back on track with an absolutely fantastic app. By having the ability to create your own exercises with as few or as many intervals, chords, scales etc as you want, you can really focus on your weak spots and get your ear up to scratch.
Fantastic stuff!
I just purchased this app. I think its very helpful. I like the way it is designed because its pleasant to see and use. It seems to have a lot of variation and I am looking forward to continuing to use it and hopefully to improve my recognition of intervals and more. As I use this app, I will be going back to this review to see if I have anything to add, including something that is on my mind. But before I release what is on my mind, I want to use the app more because I dont want to open my mouth with suggestions before I really get to know the app in full. So far I think this is a good buy. In fact, I cant wait to get back to using it right now. Thank you.
This app is a super helpful tool for ear training. A lot of these apps dont have enough extended chords, but this one is very comprehensive. Plus its great that you can create your own exercises. Im giving 4 stars because I have two complaints: 1) sometimes when intervals or chords are played harmonically in a low register, the sound quality is not good enough to be able to hear some of the tones, and 2) there are no chord progression exercises. Please add chord progressions!
